I’ve been sitting down with the team to do year end reviews. They are focused on what they did well, what could have gone better, what I did well, could have done better and what the company overall is doing well and could be better at.

They’ve been fantastic.

And eye opening. There are 3-4 key pieces of feedback I’m getting from most everyone. Some can be solved fairly easily I think.

And some require me to change how I do things. None of my personal development areas was a surprise but it’s also not something I’ve put front & center in terms of where I expend effort. And that has to change if we are going to become the organization we should become.

Personal change is hard esp as I think many of these characteristics have very deep roots. But the feedback has been good in highlighting the importance of these factors and their impacts, often unintended, on the team.

I’m still not sure how to address these areas but as I try to, I will prob work through my ideas here.
