My dad said this to me when I was working a big co job in my 20s

It was part warning, part expectation & part permission

In the moment, I wasn’t sure how to react as this was very atypical for him (strong, silent type generally)

Upon reflection, I’m very glad he said this so clearly

I will say this to my kids at some point.

I also hope we can create this sentiment/confidence in lots of other kids.
