I went to dinner last night with some good Penn friends – 2 VC guys, one private equity guy, one hedge fund guy and 1 full time poker player.
The conversation veered from buying distressed real estate from US municipalities to Argentinian bond prices to how we could setup a network to beat FanDuel (the daily fantasy sports league website) to investing in poker players making bets in high stakes games.
Lots of very macro and micro things I don’t know much, if anything, about and never think of or more often than not which I don’t have money to participate in ($300k poker games)
Of course, we talked shit and about sports and other “normal” stuff but the range of the convo was a good reminder of how many crazy and sometimes awesome things people are doing outside my own personal bubble.
