Yesterday, we released our third Periodic Table of __________ with a focus on the Internet of Things.  Our first two were the Periodic Table of Tech and the second was our Periodic Table of Healthcare.

They’ve become a hit and slowly but surely, they’re becoming “our thing”.  I think what works with them is a few things:

• It’s a structure to represent information which everyone who attended high school is familiar with
• It forces limits on how much data can be shown which means there is a prioritization. In other words, organizations on the list have a right to brag about inclusion.
• Based on reactions from others, people think it is fun, cheeky, or innovative.

A lot of clients who I’ve spoken to really like it although some didn’t like that they weren’t included but they understood (although they lobbied for sure).  But almost universally, they said “you should keep doing them”.  And so we are going to where it makes sense to do so.
